Question business advice please!!!

Hi there i have been reading lots of the messages on the site and am now confused! Being a newbie i wonder if there is anyone who can help answer some questions!!!
I understand we can come over and start a new business.....but then i read that we cant actually work for the business!! Is that correct or do we need a work permit to work in our own business?

Also how do we go about opening a business and what does it cost?

We are in a position to come over and buy outright but our savings would not last for ever so we would need to generate some income.

It seems there is quite a big expat community over there so hoping someone can help answer some questions!

Many thanks in advance!!!!

Re: business advice please!!!

Well we have our own company here in Kusadasi, and yes you can own the company (Ltd). but officially must not work for it without a work permit. We employ Turks to do our work. You should have no difficulty getting a permit, providing you also employ Turkish people. You may find it harder if you just wish to employ yourselves, and do not employ people.
You will need at least 2 Directors, You no longer need a Turkish partner, and you have to employ a Muhasebe (accountant) to keep all your books, and do all your KDV (VAT) Taxes, SSK (employees social security). etc. etc. Expect to pay your Muhasebe anything from 200ytl to 300ytl per month. You will need to have the articles of association drawn up, and notarised etc. etc.register at the chamber of commerce, etc. There is no need to go to fancy lawyers to do this Your chosen Muhasebe will do all this for you for alot less.
You will need to elect one of the Directors as 'signeage'for the company, that person is responsible for signing all official documents etc. etc. The List is endless ! You will need to choose the name of your company and depending on what you want to do. If you may want to add strings to your bow at a later date, make sure that you reg this in the name, ie ours is No-nem insaat, turizm, ticaret, Ltd.sti. That means that we have scope to do many things without altering our company articles. You will really need to take advice on this from a proffessional Muhasebe, you will get pointers like this off the forum from others also, but then only act on Good advice!
If your proposed venture is anywhere near Kusadasi, I will introduce you to my Muhasebe.

Just as a matter of interest do all these accountant and director rules etc apply to Turkish citizens setting up?

As I understand it, there are a different set of rules for Turks, who have other methods of company set up available to them. Us Foreigners must register a Ltd. Company, and have an accountant.

Re: business advice please!!!

Turks can have a single person business which costs less to set up, doesn't have to rent a premises, pays less accountant fees but pays a higher tax rate. The rules for a Ltd company are the same for everyone.

As no-nem says get everything you will want to do in your name but not too much. Our name is Turtle Webs Il Bil Em Is Dan Rek Bas Yay Ith Ihr Tic Ltd Sti (and thats just the abbreviations), our accountant went over the top.
