Building in the Summer Months
Hi everyone, this is my first post other than my introduction.
I have a concern; my parents have put a deposit down on a villa with HSM construction and have instructed a Turkish legal firm. The estate agents and builders both have websites with a section for construction photos. When I accessed these I found that the construction photo sections were empty. When I voiced concerns to my parents they contacted the builders and were told that there are no photos yet as construction is delayed because 'in Turkey, builders have a break in the summer months due to the heat'. Despite this they are being asked for their next installment. Does all this ring true or am I right to be cynical?
I might be being over-protective but it is there retirement money!

Re: Building in the Summer Months
There are areas that do not allow building during the summer, but I do not think your parents should be asked for the next instalment until some building work has been undertaken.
What does their contract say, normally you would split it into maybe 4 instalments one for the groundworks, one for the shell, one for finishing off and then a final one when you are happy with the work and they have completed any snagging.

Parador have indeed gone bust and the Owners club has gone with them, do a search for Parador using the forum search facility (top menu) and you will find plenty of threads about Parador.

Re: Building in the Summer Months
Hi I have attached a link to a thread from last week - see how Paradore treat a fairly recent customer - absolutely terrible. Talk about tell you a pack of lies to reel you in, give you a sense of security as many people buy on the strength of them being your agent, charge you over and above what the property costs but you pay becuase of the security, and then change their name when the going gets tuff, and shut the door to previous customers.

Re: Building in the Summer Months
We were told by a Turkish waiter that he was a waiter in the summer and a builder in the winter as they are not allowed to work on the building site during the summer months.
