Re: Cargo from Turkey

Anana, ALL international transport ıs a mıne fıeld. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.You pay cheap, you get stuff lost and damaged.TNT (FedX), UPS and DHL are all reputable and you can track your goods from orderıng the drıver to destınatıon.No matter who you use, except for the 3 I mentıoned,wıll use subcontractors and there lays the problems.Dependıng where ın the world you send stuff there wıll be ımport dutıes, so dont forget to calculate that. The 3 thıngs I would be concentratıng on are, Supply, Demand and Delıvery. What kınd of ıtems would you be sellıng??.Good Luck, better you than me.

Re: Cargo from Turkey

TNT yep that's absolutely correct.

Its like in the UK, Royal Mail use subcontractors and companies that use Royal Mail cop alot of complaints from customers because (esp now with Xmas around the corner) of delayed/lost items. I'm hoping to get into small home accessories etc (anything under 1kg) so its not anything that is a big investment atm and will give me the experience I need if I want to move on.

And yes I guess it really depends on what someone is prepared to pay - though when some people are desperate or are short on time then they'll pay I guess.

Re: Cargo from Turkey

Hı, what kind of items are you sending? and to where? I am asking because I have more and more problems sending things to UK. Yesterday sent an eye pencil and today the same man would not allow me to send mascara saying that all makeup is forbidden. He also reeled off a long list of other things. Ive called Royal Mail and they insist there are no restrictions on items like that but just thought ı'd give you the heads up that you may encounter these problems. In Turkey when sending things other than letters they want you to take it to the PTT , show them what you are posting and pack it there. Ive repackaged my mascara and gift wrapped it and ı'm going to try my luck again tomorrow at lunchtime when hopefully the same man will be out on his lunchbreak.

Strange you should suggest that - Ive just actually called the Oba PTT to ask ıf we can send internationally from there as I couldnt from the one up Yayla Cad. So if they dont accept my repackaged parcel tomorrow I'll jump on the bus to Oba.
Its the guy who never smiles and always looks in a foul mood. He's really rude sometimes.
