i'm not up to much with electricity Sandra..but i'm sure it would be ok..the wattage here is 220...
but you can get electric soba with the flame effect..have a look on the beko site..look for small appliances.
i'm sure somebody else here will know..if we can't get the answer on this forum..we can't get it anywhere

The voltage is 250; the wattage depends on the appliance. The ability of your house to cope with a very high wattage depends on the way it is wired. Electric fires are common in Turkey and whatever you buy, or wherever you buy it, it comes back to the wiring in your house.

Re: will it be safe

I have one of these coal effect fires from B & Q in the UK. It was brought over by an english couple and I bought it off them secondhand before christmas. They have put an Turkish plug on (saving the hassle of an adaptor) and it works fine. One of my Turkish friends has said they are available here to buy, but dont know where from. Hope you manage to find one here, rather than bring one over, but they do work :-)

İ'm looking for one myself but can't find anything local. Nearest suppliers seem to be in İstanbul for modern ones - maybe they will cargo it and you can get it fitted locally?

Too early for us though but would be interested to hear how you get on.
