Will I be cut off?????
Bought an apartment last August - haven't managed to get out there since due to work commitments etc. Haven't been given the tapu yet, but I believe it's now with the estate agents. Am due come to Altikum on the 11th June..
...any ideas what to expect re electricity?! will I be cut off?
If so, what do I do?!
Is there a standing charge?
also, any ideas re water?
thanks!

You believe your TAPU is with your estate agent!! is their a communication difficulty in contacting him? If you do not have the TAPU then more than likely you do not have Electricity or water as you have not been to take them over unless you have done a POA to your agent. If new build then possible you will have builders electric and water until sign over, if resale I hope previous owners have paid up to date or you will have a bill before you even turn a light switch on.

If you are cut off, you will need to go (or send someone) to the respective utility offices, pay a reconnection fee as well as what is owed and they will put you back on. Set-up direct debits with your bank to avoid future problems (not possible I think with water).

Re: Will I be cut off?????
You can get a management company to pay them for you. We have a company who looks after our two bedroomed apartment for £125 per year including weekly check etc. They do a bill paying service service for £20 per year if I remember right. Thats good value to know that you won't be cut off.
If you want details just email me.

We use the same company as Martyn, and I'd recommend them. Incidentally we haven't had an electricity bill in 7 months!

Yep, intend to set up DD's when we go out there in a couple of weeks. Just that period between buying/getting the tapu and actually going there to sort it all out!
Will the reconnection be quick?
