Electricity meter.
Hi there.
Just a quick question regarding our electricity meter.
The display has gone blank on it. We still have electricity in our house so we haven't been cut off. Yet!. My concern is that when they come to do a meter reading they won't be able to so they'll pull the plug on us. HAs anyone else had this problem with their meter?
All the best.

Re: Electricity meter.
I know someone who has the same problem, he's in Turkey at the moment. Someone told him to push the three wires that go into the unit in case one is loose and not making contact. He might give you some more info. when he comes back.

Re: Electricity meter.
Hi same thing happened to me this year, the guy came to read the meter but it was blank! The guarantee for the meter had just run out [dont it always] so I had to pay 120 YTL for a new one [5 year guarantee] They also had a photo-copy of the visa stamp dates[one week] so they could estimate the electricity cost. This was in April but they have not taken anything out of the direct debit account up to June 24th.

Wow, Phil, that was an expensive meter!! We purchased a new one recently, with a five year guarantee, for 50 lira!! One without the five year guarantee would have been 45 lira. Ours caught fire, although it was still working. Tedas came and fitted the new one and eventually a meter reader came and read it, but took the bill away with him! The second reading came some months later for 151 lira - still don't know what happened about the other readings/electricity consumed.

Yes we have the same problem. So do you buy the meter independently and have it fitted by Tedas? ... I'm a bit confused.

Re: Electricity meter.
You can buy the meter independently of Tedas and have it installed by an electrician.
But, if you do that, you must go to the Tedas offices with all the paperwork that came with it in order for it to be registered with Tedas. I should think the electrician that you use will know how to get the meter registered.
When ours got burnt out by a storm last year, I bought a replacement, had it fitted by a local "sparky", and got it registered myself.
Just like everything else, ask for a quote from Tedas for the job and then get an independent quote from an electrician ( or someone's cousin ).

Re: Electricity meter.
we had a new digital meter fitted as the old mechanical one was very unreliable and innacurate.
