Lights Out!
The electricity has only just come back on in Dalyan now.
Its been off for 1hr and a half and just as we was giving up any hope of it coming back on before we went to sleep - it did.
Has any other areas been affected?
Does anyone know what caused this?
Maybe it was an overload on the electricity with everyones air conditioning on as it was so hot today.

Sorry, but small potatoes. So your electricity went off for an hour - get over it, won't be the last time - go and buy some candles (romantic)!

Re: Lights Out!
Its quite normal, especially in high season when usage increases. Also be prepared with water supplies - we keep some tap water in large bottles stored away as the water often goes off, so you may need to boil kettles and have a strip wash any time of the year.. usually at the most inconvenient times from my experiences too!!

Re: Lights Out!
.... or if you have a water tank on your roof you phone the man with the hose pipe and he comes and tops you up (25YTL for 1000 litre water tank) - really, its small potatoes all of it - just sit on your balcony and enjoy the view!

It may be small potatoes in Turgutreis Helenm but in Dalyan although daytime power cuts are common each lasts no longer than about 5 mins. And nightime ones are even more rare.
We have lived in Dalyan since April and before tonight the last time we had a notable night time power cut was the end of may when there was a fire in Fethiye.
I wasn't complaining I was just simply stating a fact and asking anyone if they were affected also - theres nothing for me to get over!
I have plenty of candles Helenm Thank You for your consideration though...

Re: Lights Out!
We go off all the time - sometimes 12 hours (usually overnight) but who cares - the sun is shining, the pool is beckoning - don't worry, be happy! I don't think anyone is interested in a power cut of an hour or so - well not me anyway - but I am here if you need me!

Re: Lights Out!
It,s quite common here in Kaş for the water and the electricity to go off, even in the winter. It,s the water going off for days on end that get to me though, more than the electricity.
Helenm -
Unfortunately I,m not in the envious position of getting "a man with a hose pipe", as I,m sure my upstairs neighbours would not appreciate their apartment being filled up with water to satisfy my needs! Also, sadly, when renting it,s not possible to just install a rooftop tank! And as for your comment "I don,t think anyone is interested in a power cut of an hour so" is a bit mean for those who,s businesses may rely on electricity to function.
I hope your comments were tongue in cheek - if not, then as a Turkish Company Director (and dealing with the general public?) may I suggest you get your money back from the Charm School......

Re: Lights Out!
it happens everywhere..its Turkey.
ive been without power in various places in the Alanya area..not just for a few hours either..and it can be even worse in winter when the weather is bad.
and down this end in hatay its not as bad as alanya but its happened a couple of times in the 3 months we've been here.
but hey Rich..im kinder than Helen..dont worry.. get a torch..and some nice candles and enjoy it..its a bloody nuisance though.
just remembered..you can get some plug in lamps..theyre not expensive..and when the power goes off they come on..theyre great especially if you are stumbling around maybe unwell..or even with some little kids that need seeing to.

Re: Lights Out!
Well I can do better than that - we will have no water in Gloucester for probably the next 2 weeks. Leccy might not hold out either!!!
