Angry Rented villa Elec Prob

We have recently rented a villa in ovacik that was built about 4 years ago, we have rented of an english lady and have got a good term lease, we have noticed that both of the elec bills we have had have been expensive the last one being nearly 500 lira from the 12-12-07 to 26-01-08!! we have noticed that next doors bill is cheaper and we belive they are on the three tarif meter.. Our bill only shows 1 tarif and the bill is not in the owners name its in the original builders name, can i have the meter and name changed if im only renting???

No, only the holder of the TAPU (the equivalent of UK title deeds) can arrange this.

It's probable that the electricity is still being charged for at "Construction Tariff".

I'd get in contact with the lady and ask if she can arrange for the property to have a new 3 Tariff meter fitted. It might be worth your while in the long-run to offer to pay for it, as they're only 40 - 50 YTL.

Even with heavy use, I think your bill should be less than half of what you're currently paying.

Thumbs up Re: Rented villa Elec Prob

That's very helpful advice KKOB and, although it's good to discuss wider issues and have a bit of fun in the process, your reply is a great reminder of what this forum is fundamentally all about......
