Compatibility of Screw in Lightbulbs

Can someone confirm that the screw-in lightbulbs - ES27 that are avilable in the UK are totally compatible with the holders that we have in Turkey?

Cheers!

I'm sure there must be a good reason for wanting this information, but have not thought of it yet.
Anyway, there are different sizes of screw threads for light fittings - I have come across three, perhaps there are more - so it depends on what you have in your house.

Re: Compatibility of Screw in Lightbulbs

The reason is very simple.

I like to use energy bulbs as much as poss. We all need to save energy. When I was over in Turkey last week I looked at the cost of energy bulbs and they were quite expensive(relatively), mostly between 6 and 7 lira whereas the cost of Edison Screw 27mm are as low as 95p here in NI.

So I would buy them here and take them over, but am trying to check that they are compatible.

There - I knew there would be a good reason.
Some of the low energy bulbs are, as you say, expensive, but there are cheaper ranges and special offers. The last ones I bought from Migros were under 3ytl for a 23W bulb on special offer.
Ian

PS. just had a look at Migros and there is a range up to 30W for 1.90ytl

Are we talking about the same thing here? What I’m looking for are low-energy light bulbs – 5,7,9,11 &13 watt varieties that when multiplied by 5.5 equate to a traditional bulb, so an 11 watt low energy equates to about a 60 watt old style bulb, not just a lower wattage bulb, 25 or 30 watt which will be dim when in use. (reminds me of the streets of Amsterdam in winter, but that’s another story! )

I'm taking some screw in low energy light bulbs to Turkey. Cheapest isn't always best and I prefer to buy branded ones with a guarrantee of 10,000 hours even though they maybe a few pence more.
