Electricity connected

Anyone know how long it takes to have electricity and water turned on as I have a sneaky suspicion we will have been disconnected by the time we go over as we have not yet paid our bills. I don't want to be going over to find we have no ac especially with the kids, they need it at night. I don't care about the fines for not paying. We left it till the last day to go to the place to pay but didn't have the right numbers with us so we thought ah feck it we will pay in July. Very stupid of me I know.

The new rules that the utility companies have adopted mean they will penalise you after payment by not connecting you again for the same amount of days you went unpaid. So if you were 60 days late in paying, they will reconnect you 61 days later.

We had our first leccy bill when I was over in May. Couldn't pay it still the week begining 8th June for some reason. Thus still not paid.
Anyone know why you have to pay at a certain time?

ok I was joking.... <g>

Both utilities once paid will normally be reinstated within the same day, depending of course when its paid. They only operate Mon-Fri so if you pay on a friday, you could go without until the following Monday/Tuesday.

Never heard that before Anne. If you have the bill, just take it into any of the major Turkish banks and pay it over the counter.

Well I never. Learn something new every day. Most electric bills I know or have seen including those when I lived in Fethiye had a "son tarih" which was the last date you could pay - none of this inbetween dates.

The 'in between' bit is on your bill under the total.
You've got 'Farura Tutari'- total, then under that 'Ödeme Tarihi'- payment date and it gives you the dates between which you must pay.
If you try and pay before the date stated they wont take your money !!!
