Turkish electricity meters ?
Hi everyone
Could anyone explain what the T1, followed by numbers and also, T2 T3 T4 mean on my private villas electronic electricity meter, they appear individually after each press of the button.
I was told that each T reading was a particular time of day that you used electricity and different charges apply for each time zone.
They hadnt a clue what the time ranges where example T1 = 8pm till 12pm ? ive really no idea. I take it night time use would be cheaper than daytime use?
Thanks in advance for any info on price bands and times they relate too and wondered is this common in Turkey or is it just for foriegners buying property.
Cheers
Darren and family

Re: Turkish electricity meters ?
I have read that there are 3 levels of electricity charges depending on the time of day 7am - 5pm mid rate (0.14ytl), 5pm - 10pm High rate (0.24ytl) and 10pm - 7am (0.08ytl) low rate.

Re: Turkish electricity meters ?
I have just answered this so i had better answer on here too.
The electrity meters in Turkey are no different than the new digital ones in UK, if you phone your supplier in the uk they will send you info that you can then easily relate to you meter in Turkey.
The T rate meters are digital and work on the same principal as those of the familiar 'Economy 7' system (those that used to have the night heating) a clock, or a radio signal is sent to the meter to start running up at a certain tarrif.
If you add T1 T2 and T3 you should get a total which is the same as T4 this is the total kilowatt used it is then broken down to to price and bill the relevant tariffs.
You can ask in uk for the same system, if the house is empty during the day and dishwasher washing machine and tumble dryer are used at night then you may benefit.
endeth the lesson...lol

Re: Turkish electricity meters ?
It is compared to some other regions, but this is Fethiye and they are really trying it on, even with the petrol! now just dropped to 2.79tl perlitre! go over the mountain and it is 2.58tl
Gas bottles jumped in price by 5tl! and that was overnight. When my next bottle is due for re-newing I am going to try something and see what price i am charged then.
