Opening days in Altinkum?

I'm hoping to pop over to Altinkum next month for the ancient pay my bills and get my services back ritual

I can't remember which days Tedas & the Council building close, could anyone tell me please.

Rant warning

It's about time they sorted this out. They know damn well how many foreigners have holiday homes & should have a direct debit system in place.

End of rant

Re: Opening days in Altinkum?

Hi Peter the postie,
so from what I am reading I cant open a bank account in Turkey and pay my bills by direct bebit. I have only been to Turkey once a few years ago, but have an apartment being built in Didim, But would only be able to get out there about 4 weeks a year.
As you can proberly guess I am very green about the process of paying bills etc.

Regards

They already do have a direct debit system in place and have done for a number of years. Believe it or not, but many Turks also like to pay utility bills bill by direct debit...

The only exception is your water bill, but the late payment fines are so ridiculously small it's hardly worth bothering about (unless they cut you off that is!).

Re: Opening days in Altinkum?

Hello Pat,
In the past you gave info on paying the water bill etc, but do you have any info on opening a bank account, aand could i open an account here?.
Also would you have a phone number of a good solicitor for buying my place abroard,
Only the one recommended by my estate agents seems a bit expensive, they said they would charge £150 to open an account for me and my wife and £150 to get my tax number.
Any info would be great

Re: Opening days in Altinkum?

Steve, you can open a bank account yourself, and there is no charge for obtaining a tax number. to open a bank account just go to the bank with your passport and couple of hours later you should have bank accounts in TL and GBP.

There is a mobile IsBank lorry parked behind the Didim shopping centre, usually not as busy as the main branch, just pop along and open an account.

The tax number can be obtained by going to the tax office which is the building on the left off the 1st roundabout if you go up towards Didim from the beach.

Just go to reception and tell them you want a tax number fill in a small form and they give you a tax number, not very complicated.

I only know of one English speaking solictor in Didim;

Ahmet Sipahioğlu
tel 0256 8136616
cep 0532 6111939
email ahmetsipahioglu@hotmail.com

Another good one is Nadir Turk but he does not speak English, you would need to use a translator, who has been pretty difficult to get hold of lately.
