Utility Clarification
I've read the various postings and want to check I am on right lines before speaking to my agent. So is this right..
...electricity readings are done monthly in Turkey (would agent have this type of breakdown for individual apartments/residencies on a complex, when habitation cert not yet issued (tapu is) and they are passing bills onto complex residents?). Same for water????
...there's monthly standing charges for electricity and water in Turkey
...you cnnot get electric/water in your own name until habitation cert received?
Many thanks

Re: Utility Clarification
Hi, firstly there hasn't been any hard and fast rule as far as meter readings being taken. Unless things have changed recently its impossible to predict when they may be read as its so haphazard.
The usual course as far as having utilitity bills in your own name is that once your tapu arrives the agent then applies for your own meters to be installed. Once you have your own meters and their respective identification numbers you should start recieving bills in your own name.

Re: Utility Clarification
We've just had out electricity meter read for the first time since the 5th June.
Tedas don't seem to have any specific programme for meter reading. It's just seems to be done when they are ready for it.
Once you have your Tapu, you can get the accounts registered in your name. It costs about 80 or 90 YTL to have your electricity account transferred to your name. I don't know about water as we have our own well.

Re: Utility Clarification
I spoke to my agent recently about this and was told that in Datca they do not have a monthly rental charge like we do in the UK for water or Electric.
You only pay for what you use and like others have said bills can come at any time.

Re: Utility Clarification
No standing charges in Fethiye. I think it applies to all of the areas supplied by Tedas.
