Selling Costs

I have a property that i have advertised with Century21 Bodrum, and I have had an offer (albeit very low!). What I need to know, is the costs that I can expect to pay for selling. ie commission, taxes etc

Also, I will need to make someone POA as there is no way i can get out there- firstly where do i start with arranging this, and secondly, how much does this cost? Will this also incur a charge within the sale costs?

I would really appreciate some help with all of this.

many thanks

Re: Selling Costs

The costs should be the same percentage as you agreed with them originally.

Re: Selling Costs

Hi I had a place for sale with them a couple of years ago. You will have received a list from them of all costs involved in selling, not just their commission.

Re: Selling Costs

It is usually 3% of the selling price. POA is extra and can be done for you by them or a solicitor to you in the UK, you will need to it Apostiled? at a solicitor near you that does this. We hae arranged this many times without the seller and/or buyer being in Turkey, hope that helps.

Re: Selling Costs

Century 21 have been known to charge alot more than 3%, one reason i would give them a wide berth. I would ask before you confirm a sale as it could have a bearing on whether you accept their offer or not.

There is a selling/buying fee calculator here which should give you an idea of costs: Property Transfer Fee Calculator

Surprised to see such appallingly incorrect information from an estate agent!!!

Just a very important note that a solicitor in the UK or Tukey can NOT do a POA. It must be done by a Notary Public. You can find your closest registered notary with a quick internet or yellow pages search.

The Notary will then need to send the POA o to the UK Foreign Office to have an Apostille affixed to it.

You will then need to have the documents translated in Turkey by a registered translator and then have the translated copy Notarised here.

The POA should cost a couple of hundred pounds in the UK, cargo charges to send it to Turkey, maybe a couple of hundred lira to get it translated and notarised (charges normally depend on how many pages the document runs to.

Good luck with Century 21
