:5:
As a relative newbie to Altinkum and one who has spent too many hours reading horror stories, I thought it fair to relate my own experiences of the last few weeks as we worked on our new home.
We needed, a builder for minor repairs, a painter for the entire house, locksmiths at various points, and some new wrought Iron work for security. In additition we had a turkish plumber and electrician (twice).

What a contrast to the UK, on every occasion these guys appeared within an hour of being called, ready to work and with excellent pricing.
Now home, I've had a chance to look closely at the associated UK costs (when you can actually get a tradesman in the UK) and am very happy to say that on average we paid around 1/4 of the likely costs here.
No call out charges, no waiting days for someone to appear, and all the work carried out to our satisfaction.
Turkey should be proud of the service which these guys have given, and I have to be very happy with the help given by our friends (both Turkish & British) in finding such good workers. So a big thanks to both the tradesmen and to Carolk & Umit who made my life so much simpler (and cheaper) than I could have imagined.
One very happy home owner!

Hi All

Does anyone know the current price of parking for a short while at the Airport while I wait for a relative who will be joining us on hols, just in case I get moved on.

Would it also be possible to park up on the road just before the terminal and wait there?

Thanks

New Electric and Water subscriptions in Altinkum

Hi

Can anyone please advise on the cost of a new subscription for both Water and Electric? I've been quoted £500 by the builder and have e mailed Aydem direct as a result. They tell me a new subscrition should be only 250 TL? as for the water meter at the Council...what might I expect to pay for this?

Many thanks

They have already been paying for two years now, so my thoughts are that if they provide me with their Tapu Numbers I would be able to pay it on their behalf. Am I right in thinking this?, or do they have to pay it themselves. I don't want to waste time by going to the Belidyere in Yalikavak to be told it's a no go.

I have just registered with this forum as i find alot of threads on here, extremely useful, what a fab way to keep informed.

I only wish that I could be sending this from our villa instead of rainy UK.

Just wanted to say how beautiful Yalikavak is :48:

For me it was a cheap package deal and a day trip to Bodrum.

A million lira note was a novelty, fake handbags were plentiful, but the food was awful and the people wouldn't stop hassling you...but overall it was a nice day out in a new country.

Booked a full on two week package to Marmaris a year or so later and had a really nice time. Loved the weather, loved the scenery, loved the food, loved the people and loved the time we had.

Had quite a few holidays there since :)
