Have joint co-owned a villa in Yali for 3 years, and sadly have only visited as many times.
I have just registered with this forum as i find alot of threads on here, extremely useful, what a fab way to keep informed.

I only wish that I could be sending this from our villa instead of rainy UK.

Just wanted to say how beautiful Yalikavak is :48:

Wifi Router for Vodafone dongle.

For those of you that use a local vodafone internet dongle, it might be of interest that you can buy a wifi router too now.

You plug the dongle thingy into this little router, and it then sends wifi around your house etc.

You then just use you laptop, iPad, smartphone or what ever on wifi mode. Supports up to 5 connections.

They were 200TL at Ataturk Int airport, but if you buy from the Bodrum vodafone shop only 175 TL.

Only problem is the unit only speaks Turkish, I guessed this might happen so took my Laptop with me today to the shop. Installation was easy with a litle help from the people at the shop, they just translated the "next" button etc.

Not fully checked out the range yet, but my better half was using her iPad in the garden today.

Using it myself now.

Obviously not for people with their own telephone line and ADSL, but for those of you like us that do not have a land line or permanent internet connection and already use the vodafone dongle then it is a great bit of kit to give you a home wifi that you can top up when needed.

Hi,
Our small site is built on the site of an orchard and it has a borehole which has been used in the past to supply water for the trees.

Does anyone know of a firm in Yalikavak/Bodrum that could re-commission it?

Thanks

Don't know if this is the right place to out this but recently August we had a power surge on our complex at BWB and many of our owners found that items had blown. TV's, Washing Machines etc.
My items where:

4 A/C units
Iphone Charger, Laptop & Charger, Sound System, Clock Radio, Complex Router and we didn't realize for a few days the Fridge / Freezer.
We asked Clover to call out engineers for the A/C units as they were number one priority (can't sleep in this heat).
The service came out 2 days later and removed the circuit boards and brought them back the next day (260 YTL) for all 4 . Made up.
The freezer took nearly 2 weeks to sort out but it was done under warranty by BEKO.
I took photo's of all the damaged items incase we claimed from our insurance company "INTASURE".
When arriving home we filled in the claim form and approx 3-4 days later recieved a cheque for the amount.
Really pleased with the way they dealt with it, would defo recommend them!

When we move to Gumusluk in the new year we will want to find a local English speaking vet.

Are there any that you could recommend that not only do their job but are caring also.

I fine that vets trained in Turkey only seem to know how to be a vet...but are taught nothing about care.

So if any of you know of a local one that does both then pleasae let us know.

thank you

Hi

Unsure if this will help anyone but only cost pennies to try. After weeks of extremely low water pressure I took the filter out of the end of each tap spout and placed in acid. After a few minutes of soaking and fizzing I put them back on and hey presto fantastic water pressure.

The reason I didn't do it earlier was because of a lot of publicity in Didim about this so I thought it was a Belediye problem. Maybe a lot of people may just have the same problem.

Worth a try. x

I have a question: is it possible to get some sort of Freeview TV system? We are in Gokcebel and have up to now just got a box which no longer offers much except BBC News and Al Jezeera! Digiturk sounds expensive, as we don't do much TV in the summer months, but from October on to Spring it would be good to have some entertainment indoors. Thanks in advance.
PS hope I got how to do this right am a bit of a novice with forums.
