Mains Water - Why Is It warm this year?

We have just returned back for our annual pilgramage to Akbuk!

Quite strange this year was how warm both the sea water was and also the mains supplied cold water to the house.

Normally a cold water shower is very refreshing out in Akbuk, however this year the water was constantly warm and you could not get the water cold enough. There was no need to mix in any hot water supplied by the solar tank.

This was not only our house but all the sites around the Tansas supermarket. I think different area's of Akbuk have different water sources. Possibly if your cold water is in fact cold, then perhaps your source is from the mountains somewhere whereas if it is warm, then it might be desalinated water fom the sea, well thats my theory anyhow!

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a change this year?

Also the sea water around Akbuk normally has a slight chill to it, but not this year, I'm not sure why.

Further to my thread about burglaries. I was wondering if we could organise ourselves into groups that kept an eye on each others properties, linked by our mobiles to report anything we think that could be out of the ordinary.

On the one hand I know it's kind of invasive, and as Brits we have a natural tendency not to stick our noses in other ppl's business; however that's not what this is about. I for one would rather have a few phone calls asking if everything is okay than have even an attempted break in.

All it requires is for us to organise ourselves into cells of about 3 or more ppl with each others mobile numbers, and a willingness to call if we see anything that looks unusual, it's not a perfect scheme by any means but; it may just give us a slight edge when it comes to burglaries and the like. we may already do something similar; I just think if we organise ourselves we become stronger and less vulnerable, it's just a case of overcoming our reticence of being thought of as nosey.

What do you guys think?

I have the "pleasure" this holiday of having my teenage son (18) and his friends (3 boys and 2 girls) staying over with me at PRR this summer - the "teenage team". On two occasions they visted Altinkum (as teenagers do! - it's like a magnet to them, with the bars and night clubs). They had difficulty getting a dolmus back at that time circa 3am so they ended up in two taxis; One taxi's carried three from Altinkum up to PRR and charged 100 YTL. The 2nd Taxi carried two and charged 50 YTL but stopped at the bottom of the steep hill. As they only had 40YTL in th e2nd Taxi the driver kept the teenage girl "hostage" whilst insisted the boy walk the rest of the way and get the remaining money before he would release the girl. I have to say I was furious and raced down to the taxi driver and explained strongly that keeping a girl hostage on a hill side was just not on at all!!! Apologies to the neighbours at that time in the morning (as i appeared to gather quite an audience) but I was livid! Anyways all ended well in the end. On the second occasion the "teenage team" visited Altikum and returned but this time the two taxis stopped at the foot of the steep hill and charged them 80YTL for two passengers and 60YTL for three passengers. I have explained to them that they could have hired a 2 * hotel in Altinkum for all five of them for £40! Any advice gladly received. Regards

Hi Everyone,

Please be advised burglars are back in the Akbuk area. My house opposite the summer breeze apartments was burglarized this morning at about 05:30 hrs, my friend who was staying in the villa was woken up by what turned out to be two guys taking the patio doors off the hinges, he gave chase but lost them. Luckily nothing was taken; but apparently considerable damage was done. These Burglars are getting more and more brazen, the Akbuk Jandarama were advised and were trying to find the culprits but at time of writing, no suspects have been apprehended.

Please take extra care, and be extra vigilant with yr security etc.

Does anyone know of a good reliable value for money van hire company either in Bodrum or Altinkum or Akbuk. Have been quoted for a van and driver but am hoping for van only option to keep costs down: Any constructive recommendations would be welcomed. Thanks

Today I had some friends come in very distraught. They have just had their water supply disconnected. The builder apparently owes approximately 15,000 ytl and although my friends have received monthly bills and have paid what is owed, this large amount remains outstanding. It seems that they are the only people on the complex at the moment and are elderly so this is not good - another unsatisfactory situatiion and they dont know which way to turn now - they came to retire and have a stress free life!
