pool maintenance?

can someone tell me if its usual to pay for pool maintenance for 12 months when its only used for 6 months of the year . we are on a site with 14 villas with a comunial pool and are paying £50 per villa per month for the garden maintenance and the pool maintenance . does this seem reasonable ? and should we be paying £50 per month for the 6 months we arent using the pool . thanks

Re: pool maintenance?

It will depend on what was agreed about the pool. Some communities will allow it to be shut down for the winter which usually means it will go green. Some will half empty it (as our's does) then leave until the next season. Some and this usually applies to communities that still have properties for sale will keep it going just so the area looks good and presentation to prospective buyers.

The main problem is majority rules, what does the majority want?

Hi Dave

Monthly maintenance charges are normally paid 12mths of the year. I've never heard of anywhere that pays less. We are 35 apartments and pay 100ytl per month. Our pool is open from mid-May to mid-October. Do you have a bekçi (caretaker) living onsite? If so then his wages will need paid every month.

£50 per month seems pretty reasonable if everything is kept in good order. It also means that a 'maintenance man' must be on site pretty often which is good for security.
