World top 5 Olu Deniz Beach
Today in the Land of Lights:
According to news furnished on the BBC News internet site, Belcekiz Beach, which attracts thousands of tourist to Turkey every year and its heavenly natural center with its turquoise-coloured sea surrounded by pine forest, has been chosen as the 5th best beach in the world.
On the basis of reasearch carried out by Dr Dimitrios Buhalis of Sureey University in England, the first on the list is Tuscan Riviera in Italy, the second is Tarifa in Spain, the third is the South Beach in Miami, USA, and the fourth is Saint Ives in Cornwall!!

Re: World top 5 Olu Deniz Beach
Been to 3 out of 5, and although Olu Deniz looks fantastic, as a beach it is not that good. As far as Miami geoes, great beach but the rest of the place, forget it !!
St Ives, great when the sun is out with a Clotted Cream Ice Cream.

Re: World top 5 Olu Deniz Beach
Sorry, but as much as I love Turkey, the beaches don't match up to any on the Algarve. Not even Olu.

Re: World top 5 Olu Deniz Beach
Maybe Dr Dimitrios also needs to take a trip to Thailand, Indonesia, Africa and South America

Re: World top 5 Olu Deniz Beach
I can think of many more beaches that are far better than Olu Deniz.

Re: World top 5 Olu Deniz Beach
It is a shame that they did not give the criteria that they worked from. Olu Deniz is a great beach with wonderful breath taking views from the air but to sit on and relax then other med beaches have this trophy.
Is this from a tourist point of veiw or the study of the surrounds, water contamination etc... maybe a investigative journalism would have been better.

I read that report and I have to agree that our thoughts were that the "panel" didn't get out much.
