Stealing British tourists.

A restaurant owner was last night bilked out of some 700 TL [my estimate] by a group of 14 British tourists staying in an apartment block in Overcik.
The meal was superb but as all 14 had different main courses [pre-planned?] then service was a mite slow between the mezze's and the main course. That was their excuse for not paying. The food was great and they ate it all.
Their excuse for not paying for drinks was that the tax-chitty was not on the table! [none of their business].
In my opinion this was a pre-planned deliberate scam. Please watch out for these despicable people.

Please also convey my feelings to the restuarant owner too. This gives Brits a bad name - again a few spoil it for the rest.

Re: Stealing British tourists.

I had a friend in the Uk who ran a pub/restaurant and she said they often had 'professional' complainers in who would order the best food off the menu, with expensive drinks and then proceed to complain loudly within the hearing of other diners, all with the intention of little or nothing for their meal. These people who refused to pay in the restaurant last night are probably the professional holiday complainers who always find something wrong with their holiday and then get the cost of it back from the tour operator. Dispicable people.

Re: Stealing British tourists.

It's people like that who make me ashamed to be British. I sincerely apologise to the restaurant owner and hope they get to find out who these thieves are and brought to justice.

Re: Stealing British tourists.

There are groups of people in Britian that deliberately do this sort of thing and learn off from each other on how the law stands in their favour and then they play on it.
l remember years ago while staying at one of the Greek islands.A holiday maker was quite boisterous and l thought to myself there's something about this guy that isn't right.Well!,my neighbour at the time was invited to pair up with this couple for an evening meal.lt was the most embarrassing night he ever had.

The couple always complained about the time it took to the standard of the food.No one else complained except them,as a matter of fact the compliments far out weighed the complaints. The main meal came and the red wine which this guy turned around and said it is not red enough, even though he drank half the bottle and ordered another one.He complained the meat wasn't to his liking and the waiters were offensive which put this poor waiters job on the line.

When the bill came he refused to pay, which caused a huge scene and the neighbours caught in the middle of it.The arrogant greedy couple were let off without paying, while the decent kind people were left to pay their bill. Then he had the dam cheek to say to my neighbours .This is the way to do it,if you want a cheap holiday.
