Dan, I am assuming you are talking shotgun shooting in which case unless you are a Turk or have Turkish citizenship, you have no chance of owning a shotgun over here. If on the other hand you are/have the procedure starts with the Jandarma not the police. Fingerprints, criminal justice court check including Interpol check, medical and psychological checks and reference from a professional. All of this is to own a gun, you also need a hunters licence and spend time at their training ground. I havenít mentioned costs as by now I am sure you have decided to go butterfly catching. There is another alternative as Kev has mentioned and that is clay shooting but finding a club near to where ever you are planning to stay is not easy. One other thing, if you can get all your ducks in a row donít be afraid to buy a Turkish gun, there are some splendid guns here for a fraction of the cost buying in Britain would be.

This is a very emotive subject on this forum so I would suggest that if you want to talk about it some more you PM me, I am not an expert, I just know the ropes.

Re: Hunting License (Firearm)

Trust me Kemerkid, I will get the license. I will be going to the Jandarma to get more informations, but I've heard that some British people who reside in Turkey got their license without any problem. At the end of the day it's just a hunting license.

Re: Hunting License (Firearm)

I would take Kevs advice, go with Turks; I've not had an "issue" in doing so in 30+ years.

Bear in mind little furry creatures; like boar, come fully armed with attitude.

Re: Hunting License (Firearm)

Its not just a hunting license.
Around the back of us in our local village in the UK ,they have just caught a gang of poachers who were shooting BADGERS for SPORT and they are supposed to be protected!

If its a sport and JUST A LICENSE dont shoot LIVE animals.

Funlife is correct in that Nature,s WORST predator is MANKIND.
They have more to fear from us than their own species.
The Turks who swagger up into the forest and aim at everything in sight need shooting too.
I expect the boars do have ATTITUDE as so would you if some trigger happy hunter was firing at you and thinking it was great fun!!
End of rant
