Moving out to Turkey - Hopefully!
Hi to all,
I am planning to take early retirement and move out to Turkey (Hisaronu/Ovacik area) sometime next year. I will be in the area last week of August for another look around, view properties etc. and would be pleased to hear from anyone who might be willing to pass on experiences/knowledge and possibly meet up so I can ask some pretty dumb questions about what to expect!
Thanks in anticipation.
Bryan

Re: Moving out to Turkey - Hopefully!
Good Luck three important tips
RENT FIRST - if you do buy, get a resale from a trusted brit with proper paperwork and dont sell your property in UK until 100 per cent sure.

Re: Moving out to Turkey - Hopefully!
Bryan, we live in Fethiye and have been for the last 5 years. Its good advise to rent especially in Ovacik/Hisaronu which are very quiet in the winter.
There are lots of properties for sale too so its really a good time to get a bargain.
Good luck with the move, take your time and don't rush into anything that you think isn't 100 per cent right for you.

Re: Moving out to Turkey - Hopefully!
Don't get sucked in by any of the Emlaks hype, as soon as they know you are looking you will be "fresh meat" If I was doing it all again I would rent somewhere first for a year and have a really really good look around. Don't buy new or off plan, buy something you can see ALL the paperwork for there and then.
If anyone say's "This is the way it's done in Turkey"........................Run away fast!

Re: Moving out to Turkey - Hopefully!
hi marbles, we took prospective residents to the Fethiye area earlier this year. coming from didim, we looked round with completely independent eyes. personally i love the whole area, probably the best all round area to settle. i liked ovacik. people say its quiet in winter but so are most resort towns. olu deniz is wonderful anytime of year. fethiye is just a few minutes ride on the bus and offers everything you might need. fethiye is a fabulous place, however i couldnt live there as it is just sooo busy - traffic is really bad and would drive me mad.
we did find an brilliant lawyer - ozlen ozergin. she has been excellent and has turned up 2 lots of land issues for us which could have been disastrous. pm me if you want her details.

each to their own-personally I wouldnt send a dog to live in Hisaronu. Tacky as hell during season, dead as hell out of season.
