Jarvids Place
Has any one been to Jarvids' in the Kaya valley?
He is a wonderful old man who eaks out a living on his smallholding in the valley. he has a sort of restaurant, the sort that gets 5 customers a week as it a bit remote. However his food is wonderful, you have to warn him you are coming as he does not stock any food for his restaurant, but it is worth the effort. The vegetables are picked while you are waiting, and if you are having chicken, don't be surprised at the odd load squawk from across the road. Ask for Tuna in sour pomegranate sauce, it's delicious. Your bill will always come to 35TL (in new money), as I don't think he can add up at all. You have to be honest with him as often the wine and beer can come to more than this.
Basic Turkish / English lessons are compulsory as he like to show off the little English he knows. He, and his family, (his mother has been 105 for the last three years), are part of an old Turkey that is fast disappearing.

If you travel from Fethiye over the mountain into Kaya, you will come to what is called, by the Brits anyway, the "clock tower roundabout", there is no roundabout and the clock is long gone, but it is recognisable, go straight over or if coming from Hiseranu, turn left, follow the road through until it turns a sharp right Jarvis place is about 1/4 mile further on, it's on the left and the last building before you leave the "village". Last year there were some walled area being made ready to build something on the right just before Jarvids, villas I would imagine. If Mushtaq will enable me for photos to be uploaded I will post some photos of him.

Steve I have just looked at your photographs of Fethiye and Jarvid and mum, they're great and Fethiye looks wonderful, We must venture down there to see it.
We celebrate our 25th this year and in all those 25 years we've never had a crossed word
