Are we talking insurance in the UK or Turkey here? Very few Turks have safes in their homes

Re: Buying a Safe

I will ask my insurance agent next time I am in town, this sounds highly unlikely to me. Cheers

Those things that people usually leave locked in the safe for safe keeping.

Trouble is, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't, but at least you are making a effort.

We kept bric--brac and a small amount of cash in our safe, so no great loss.

Items of value we always kept in a false kitchen drawer.

Re: Buying a Safe

When I lived in Bodrum we had adining table with a large pedestal foot., it opened out and you could lift out the extra leaves for large dinner parties. With a jig saw I made a hole in the top, filled the pedestal with our valuables and then put the leaves back and closed the table. It kept out valuables (mainly my power tools, they were very expensive in Turkey at the time), and old Turkish kilims safe for years.

Pah! That's nothing

When WE were in Turkey I removed the living room floor, dug down 6 metres, dropped our valuables in, back filled it with reinforced concrete and put a solid wooden floor on top
