Smile Roadworks!!

Hi,

Does anyone know if the Belidye in Fethiye have started paving the roads on the other side of the 22 Metre road (Clais road)?

I know they finished last summer on the "Bay side". Only out apartment block is on the Migros side and like most side roads in town, they are full of potholes a nd subsided trenches.

Re: Roadworks!!

the 22mtr road now has a central reservation the whole length from Migros right through to Calis. Their thinking is to stop the many pedestrian accidents, the reservation is laid on to of the existing road, but somehow I dont think they have thought this through. Traffic now wanting to turn left out of the side roads (migros) have to turn right and drive to the next available opening or to the roundabout, BUT, being Turkey they dont the turn left driving onto on coming traffic! because they cant be bothered to go to the opening/roundabout!

The road between Yakamoz restaurant and the Tax office is closed, they are builing the new prom so the side roads are being churned up by diverted traffic.

I'm not even going to question why they did it. I gave up trying to work out the non-logic of any local authority (including UK) a long time ago. When we get back here later this summer, well, I think it best to check out the apartment and then have a walk around first before taking the car out, eh??

Well, roses have thorns and tend to warn those who want to pick them. Given that and the logic of your message - should we even hire a car at all? Given that we have weathered trips from Denizili to Fethiye in the winter months. Driven through deep snow to arrive safely at our home - What care we about what happens on the 22 metre road - but, then??

Re: Roadworks!!

They have virtually finished the road now, the biggest problem with this "improvement"is that it now encourages people to drive on the wrong side of the road, because they can't turn right on to the correct side. Overall it must cut some accidents down but perhape the money could also have spent on ensuring that all the man hole covers are in place. As I found to my peril on Saturday evening when I finished up running over a manhole cover that had flipped into the road.
