Re: Dalaman airport and route
I didn't notice signs on Monday but people taking the large boxes of cigarettes were being stopped at customs at Glasgow airport.

Re: Dalaman airport and route
dalaman airport is a lot better for check in but there were 3 queues for our flight and many people in 1 queue were charged excess baggage.Prices in departure lounge are ridiculous.I wanted 2 cans sheftali and only had 50 lira note.I was told the cost was 17 lira but they had no change and tried to give me a small chocolate bar to make up the change.I took my money back and left.Others were charged 4 pounds for a packet of crisps. In fact they were telling everyone there was no change.A total rip off.

Re: Dalaman airport and route
Well,
I came back on Wednesday from Dalaman airport and I was really impressed, such a big airport , and such a great variety of food and shops !
Of course the prices are exagerated, but then, they are like that at all Turkish Airport (try Antalya), and as somebody said, prices in the Turkish corner and at the Mc Donalds were reasonable, and the temperature was agreable all over the airport. As you say, for a regional Airport, this is really stunning, it made the pain of leaving a lit less...
It is quiete normal that prices for drink are that high, because I think the shopowners have to pay a big rent overthere (as in a lot of places in Turkey I discovered)
Possible the seats are not that confortable, but I didn't notice that.
I flew in by Izmir, and they have a new airport as well, even more beautifull and bigger then Dalaman, and air-co all over the place as well...... it was great !

Re: Dalaman airport and route
They put these signs up so you will buy more cigarerettes and there is no come back as you are in the UK when customs stop you. I lost 800 cigarettes to customs at Edinburgh last year so do not believe them please.

Hi
Yes I thought that it was a bit odd and that as you say it was to encourge you to buy more.but why decide to do it now.The red signs were on all the counters clearly stating your allowances are up.I thought prehaps as Turkey was in early stages of trying to enter the Eu this may have been the cause

Re: Dalaman airport and route
Please readers, when approaching the tunnel read the warning signs carefully. Note that you may not ride your donkey through the tunnel but more importantly...you may NOT enter the tunnel if your car is on fire. I presume you have to take the high road.

Re: Dalaman airport and route
Or does it mean that if your car IS on fire, you CAN ride your donkey through the tunnel?

Re: Dalaman airport and route
What about if your donkey is on fire too?
Really, they should make these regulations clearer.
By the way, can anyone explain why the tunnel bends? I estimate that it bends through about 10 degrees.
