fishing by Turgutreis

firstly hello, i'm due to come to turkey in june for my first time but i am a mad keen fisherman so could anybody possibly help me by telling me what fish are in the area and how /where to target them ? i love fishing for bass with lures and hoping that there will be a few species that are willing to take a lure(fresh or salt water fish i'm not fussy )and is there any good boat's that anyone can recommend to go out on fishing with from the area
i 'm sorry there is probably enough questions here to start another couple of threads but any help is greatly appreciated thanks

Hi BFM, there are several threads on fishing, look at the forums page. You have to be careful about licences, you need one even for the sea! But I bet no local Turk has ever seen one. I'm not in your area, my place is in Side, if you get any joy let me know as there are loads of rivers and lakes [I flyfish in Wales] around southern Turkey.

Hi bassy
I was fishing in a bay not far from turgutries (just past Gumusluk)
we had brought 2 old carp rods & spinning rods from the uk + a selection of lures

we were able to walk out around 100 yrds, and as we were reeling in our lures they were followed by either bass or grey mullet but as soon as they noticed our legs they turned back out to sea, we also found the best time for fishing
as always - is early mornings or late evenings when the larger fish come in to feed on the smaller ones,
also the winter months are the best time for bass,---but they are there in the summer
the problem is early mornings were out for us, due to effes
& late evenings were no good because of enjoyment looking for effes
this year i must try harder & be a good boy.
I have also seen someone fly fishing of gumusluk pier,he was very successful he amazed the turkish fishermen ,they had never seen anything like it before.

If you go down the road at the top of turgutries market square
there is a fishing shop that sells most fishing equipment

best of luck
barry

Koycegis and its lake are near Dalyan - massive lake which gets very choppy most afternoons cause of the wind. When I was there last year looking for property I asked some of the locals who were fishing if the lake held any carp even showed them a picture of what I meant and was told they had never heard of anything big like that. Possibly cause they were only fishing light for small stuff. Flowerpotman has whetted my appetite with his post, would like some more info if hes got any.
Regards
Keith

Thanks for the piccies V6, interesting thing is one of the pictures is also on a site called Carp Waters worldwide.com advertising Lake Sazan, up near a place called Nigde. The fish sure do get around. Thought Koycegis lake looked good and not too far from my place near Fethiye, must take the rods with me next visit.
Cheers
