Fishing around Bolu

Hey,

New to the forum, and this is pretty much the only thing out there about fishing in Turkey. The Missus hails from Seben, near Bolu, and we are heading out there next summer (meeting the in-laws: woohoo). I thought of packing in the rod to avoid any uncomfortable situations. According to what I have read, there are trout in some of the lakes around Bolu and, presumably, in the mountain rivers and streams.

Any thoughts or advice?

Re: Fishing around Bolu

Hi Herman, I am a keen trout flyfisher here in Wales. There are certainly trout in the lakes and rivers of Turkey but angling for them is totally unexploited. Perhaps your chance to make your fortune? I have a place in Side [sorry I dont know where Bolu Is] and there is a fair amount of fishing [for food] in Manavgat and also a tackle shop for sea, bait and spinning gear, nothing for flyfishing!
Kind regards Phil.
ps...definately put your tackle in your hold baggage!

Hi Herman
My husband's from Düzce which is near Bolu.
There's some lovely countryside around the town and it's very green and pretty.
I don't know anything about fishing tho'.

Thanks for the info, guys. I am looking forward to my visit, the place looks great. I might even consider visiting something historical, but that will be indirectly proportional to the tightness of my line!
