Thumbs down England Euro 2008 Flops

Well what can I say!
England have failed to qualify for the Euro 2008 football championships.
As an England supporter I have supported them through thick and thin.
I was born in 1964 so I can't remember 1966, the only time that the English football team have done anything in my life time to be proud of. So what is left now for the nations number 1 sport.
Steve McClaren will go but he won't resign because he will get a better pay off if they ask him to go
Who will succeed McClaren any way? I was in favour of Sam Allardyce for the job before McClaren got it but he has done nothing at Newcastle.
At least Turkey have qualified so for the championship
so will be supporting them over the summer So not all is lost..............BUT WHAT NEXT

What happened to the days when teams were scared of playing us at Wembley? We were poor and deserved to go out. No one wanted McLaren to manage England so at least he will go.

On an even worse note,I thought Croatia were a class outfit full of talent and their strikers were red hot. What pace they had, particularly on a sodden pitch and we were no match for them.

It's not a worse note at all Terry - Croatia were classy. It showed in detail everything that England lack - England are technically bankrupt....

listened to the game on the radio. What a useless manager. Why start the game with one man up front ?? reminds me of the last dissapointment with the swede in charge. We should of had it won by half time.

Whats the difference between Lewis Hamilton and the England Football team ?

In the morning Lewis Hamilton will still have a McLaren.

I'm not that "up" on football, but why is it always the Manager who gets the blame when a team loses. Surely a team is only as good as it's players? It's not the Manager out on the pitch kicking the ball.

A pet hate of mine is the ridiculous salary footballers get paid for running round a pitch kicking a ball for 90 minutes. Who set the wage rate's for these people? Far far too well paid.

Poor Northern Ireland were also put out last night; 1-0 in Spain

But Turkey's through! :woohoo:

It's true the players should shoulder some of the blame, but it is the manager who picks the tactics, the players and is supposed to provide some motivation (if playing for your country is not enough motivation) last night we had 11 players out there who (apart from the stick insect) were made to look like a sunday league side compared to Croatia.

Just heard that it is likely that McLaren will get £2.5m for not doing the job he was appointed to do...........unbelievable.

Given the weather does anyone know why this "super stadium" that cost the taxpayer so much didn't have it's roof closed? It's no excuse because Croatia would probably have won by 6 or 7 goals on a better pitch.
