Re: Rangers

Well, shame about the result but bigger shame about the mindless minority who gave the team and probably Glasgow in the eyes of the media, such a display of bad behaviour.

As a Leeds United supporter (yes there are still some) I have cringed with the embarrassment of some of our so called supporters in the past.

The real rangers supporters will know what I mean.

Re: Rangers

Yea pity about the violence, but can you tell me of any football team that does not have a minority of mindless idiots that bring shame on their team, and country, I think also we have to remember that there were estimates of upwards of 120,000 Rangers supporters there, who brought credit to their club, and millions of pounds to the city of Manchester.

In no way do I condone the idiots, but praise must also be given to the 119,000 or so, who accepted defeat gracefully.

Cheers Peter

I think home football has improved no end to when i use to follow Chelsea in the 60s and 70s. No all seater stadiums and fighting was rife. The Chelsea v Leeds matches were always a problem on and off the field of play.

The fact that the main screen packed in when there were thousands waiting to see the game must have been a source of great frustration but in no way am I trying to justify some of the "Bampottery" that ensued. I Doff my Cap to ye Peter for mentioning the MASSIVE majority that did Rangers proud - even in defeat.

It is now the Small Matter of A Treble.

PS; I was really saddened to hear of of Tommy Burns's Passing - he was a Great Guy.

Re: Rangers

I am just back from Manchester but as I was in the stadium did not see any of the trouble. There was of course some mindless behaviour by some fans and, whilst most certainly not condoning it, I can understand how the failure of the big screens contributed to this. I would apologise on behalf of the vast majority of over 100,000 fans who, despite the result, enjoyed the hospitality in the city.
Our disappointment with the result is however put in perspective with the news today about Tommy Burns and I echo the sentiments of James 1873. Celtic have lost a great and faithful servant.

Me too just back from Manchester, having spent a fantastic day (other than the result) in the fanzone at Cathedral Gardens with a great group of other Rangers fans. Was appalled at the trouble around Piccadilly Gardens - so-called Rangers fans thowing missiles and putting other fans who just wanted to go home in danger.

Re: Rangers

After yesterdays result, Celtic are now 2/7 to win the league, just getting ready to go up to parkhead to view the Tommy Burns tributes, with my son and grandson.

Cheers Peter
