Great night for the reds
Fantastic celebrations for Man United supporters as they saw their team lifiting the the european champions league trophy for the third time in their history. The mighty reds edged out Chelsea to win 6-5 on penalties after drawing 1-1 at full time and and after no further goals in extra time. I am a reds fan but in all honesty you could not get a cigarette paper between the two best teams from the premiership. United held sway in the first half but Chelsea came out with purpose after the break and dominated the second period.
Nothing to separate them in open play so it was down to penalties to determine the outcome.
Ronaldo was the first to fail but a miss by John Terry and a save by van der sar from anelka secured a victory by the slimmest of margins for the reds.
excus any spelling errors...I have been celebrating!!!!
Come on you reds!!!!

Re: Great night for the reds
I thought it was a great game, Man Utd had a great 1st Half and should have wrapped it up with the chances they had. Chelsea were dominant is the 2nd half and hit the woodwork twice. Overall I think Man Utd had the better chances and for that reason thought they just deserved the win.
Drogba was an idiot and I can't understand what Chelsea were complaining about in the melee that led up to his sending off, when they had done exactly what Tevez had done (kicking the ball out for a chelsea throw) at least twice themselves.
So congratulatons Man Utd, commiserations Chelsea.

Re: Great night for the reds
brilliant night for our household with the desired result.
Penalty shootouts are never popular in this country especially,
but there a means to an end.
I had just about given up when Terry stood up to take his, but fortunatly he missed. Great end to a great season,

Re: Great night for the reds
Its already been said it was no way for a game to end but fortunatley it went our way. Felt a great pride in the way we handled the pressure , I cant imagine how John Terry must be feeling today but as a Football fan he has every quality that i admire in a player , he will be back to torture us again . A great season for both clubs , Hope Avram Grant isnt judged to harshly an stays with Chelsea .

Re: Great night for the reds
Yes, brilliant game. I thought when Christiano Ronaldo missed the penalty shot that it was all over but what a reprieve when John Terry slipped and missed. I was really glad that Ryan Giggs scored his penalty as this may well be his last big match and after the service he has given the club he deserved to be on the winning side. We were watching with friends and when it was Annelka's turn one of them said that he wouldn't score and he was right with the fantastic save by Edwin Van de Sarr.

Yes congratulations ManU
Chelsea hit the woodwork twice and John Terry slipped so it wasnt meant to be.
50th anniversary of Munich and the gods were on their side.
Well done to the two best teams in England.

Another double for the Mighty Reds.
Great match, great result, great occasion. Well done to the players from both teams and especially to both sets of supporters.
