But being serious it is a difficult issue

Whilst I understand for British people the Poppy symbol is important it does by the FIFA rules come under the political category.

If one is allowed then ffs with the proliferation of small nations and their various disputes there would be symbols every match.

Should Ireland have been allowed to wear the Easter Lily on their shirts this year for the Rising Centenary..........

I dare say some countries might find National Anthems offensive...........

Spurs for what it's worth I personally think the armband idea was a reasonable compromise but I am sure you know what I mean as regards it getting messy if every country can introduce non sport symbols

Sepp Blatter was much worse, he gave FA cash to his South American cronies, in the case of Big Sam it was just a case of offering to do consultancy work ... greedy, but not corrupt ... I think I have got this right
As a lady with an eye for the chunky hunky, I miss Sam...

Re: Lest we forget

The world should always 'Remember' & pay respect to our brave forefathers & our Allies who fought for our Freedoms in WW1 & 11, but for their courage & patriotism we would have experienced a total World War, literally! & would not have had the Freedoms we 'should' cherish. Freedoms, are never guaranteed & must be continuously Guarded & Protected.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn;
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them."

Re: Lest we forget

Controversially , I feel those who served so courageously are worthy of better than the current England football team and the FA.

So often lacking in spirit , fight and endeavour , Wembley is often shortchanged and Englands supporters let down.

Re: Lest we forget

Fine words tintagel. We have just returned from Lyon in France, which was occupied by the Nazi's (Klaus Barbie - the butcher of Lyon) Had it not been for our brave men and women in the 1st and 2rd W.W. there'd be no freedom nor bloody football !

Football overlords don't like individual fans wearing poppies.
