Does the team think?
From time to time, Myself and maybe other forum members want to maybe advertise some kind of business opportunity or event which would possibly be against the forum rules, but not warrant a permanent advertisement.
I for one would not mind paying for this privilege. I know nothing about running forum matters, but maybe to protect forum readers from endless ad battering is it feasible to have a temp business announcement ad. area for these type of things for which we pay a fee? for eg. a one or two week exposure?

Re: Does the team think?
It's an idea which sounds feasible but Mushtaq would have the final say on this so we will leave it to him to read and comment.

Re: Does the team think?
Why don't you buy advertising space on the side of the page (there are currently 4 running), which would then link through to your website for more information.

AAAhhh İmmac. You have not grasped the question. The ads at the side are PERMANENT ads linking to web sites. I am talking about TEMPORARY ads that maybe makes a business announcement or opportunity ie me or old sausage or whoever that does not warrant a perm ad.

Re: Does the team think?
Sounds o.k. to me, any profits could possibly boost the TLF fund.

Re: Does the team think?
Also these ads would not be posted with a view to answers on the forum a) to keep from unneccesary comments, starting a bun fight & b) to prevent bumping. therefore only visited by those who are interested.

Re: Does the team think?
I think there there is scope for both types of advertising.
The benefit of a separate thread for each advertising opportunity is that forum members are free to leave feedback and so inform others of the real value of the service offered. However these threads are difficult to successfully moderate.
Where I have seen this operate elsewhere it seems to work most of the time, the trouble is from an advertisers view is that it human nature to take good service for granted but perceived poor value is often disproportionally reported. which can result in an excess of negative posts.
Consider ebay, and how often even a single negative post will cause some customers to use an alternative supplier.

Yeah, but I believe that if I am paying for the privilage of placing a temp ad. Others should not be able to banjax/derail it for free. İt is what it is.......a temp ad.
If someone wants to criticise my work, then they are free to do this in their own post.

AAAhhh No-nem, but I think I have, because even a simple thread that is part of the forum is archived and there forever. Whereas a block purchased for a set time as normal advertising goes away when it is dropped.
What you need, perhaps, is a short term block advert rate?
