yes we have both of these now after lots of stress.we have had to do most of the above on our own. our turkish friends not all of them but most dissapear when theres no ytl flowing. i am not going to mention plumbers,electrician.fitters.etc when we arrange a date or time.forget it.its when they decide to come.and when they have finished there workmanship, plus tips ,i have to set about trying to put things right. we came to live here to get away from the stress of our lives in the uk.

Re: " is it me"
We have been living here just about 18 months and the first few months are the worst. Getting things done does take time and wheels grind slowly. We felt we had achieved something if we got one thing done in a day and at that time we had no car and after a month I was sick of going to Fethiye every day.
We were told by others to stop waiting in for people and just tell them to ring you when they are actually coming. We followed that advice and it was better.
We also finished up after workmen and wondered why they could not put a socket on the wall straight. We also realised that you get what they can do or have in stock, which is not necessarily what you ordered or wanted.
However, very slowly it changes. All the little jobs get sorted and you start to settle and you start to chill and before you know it you will not be bothered whether the socket is straight. Take off your watch because you don't need it and you will be so calm you will fall out of your tree.

Re: " is it me"
This is Turkey and it will never change and you just have to chill and go with the flow which is always like a very, very slow stream.
As Teresa says "Yarin, Yarin"

Re: " is it me"
why get stressed if it doesnt get done this month it will sooner or later..and the more you push a Turk..the more you will be resisted.
isnt that what stressed you about the uk..that everything had to be to a standard and on the dot..and people got up tight for nothing.
hmm your last comment..love Turkey..love the sun..not sure about the people..!!!

Barry, put my name down for a Brussel Sprout curry please. Seriously, anyone with good DIY skills is a useful person to know as far as I am concerned - whereabouts in Turkey do you live?

How about " if you don't like it leave ?" If that offends you, I wont worry about it either. You happen to be the guest in Turkey - but you want the turks to change ? Unreal.

i soon realised the best thing is give them your mob num or put a sign in turkish on your door [by the pool] i have even been in a restaraunt when they phone saying ,we are here. i say hold on for about an hour we will be back ,and 9 times out of 10 they aree still there when we arrive. b ut i took all my tools put with me plus sds drill[concrete] and have done a few jobs for other people on complex . plus lent out that concrete drilling drill [have you ever tried to drill into their walls .
