Where to go to the beach

If, like us, you like a bit of space around you when you are on the beach, try the beach to the east of Side. No big hotels, just a few beach bars with sunbeds and parasols. Like nearly everywhere, beds are free as long as you eat and or drink something. Lovely and quiet during the week, a bit busy at the weekend as the Turks like to come here. From the big roundabout just before antique Side take the road towards Titriyengül. There is a dirt road leading to the beach (plenty of parking) just after the sportsfields on the right.

The best place of all we found is in Colakli. It is part of the University of Ankara who have a holiday site there. Loads of room, very quiet part of the beach, showers, toilets, and a really good and cheap restaurant/bar. We had their day menu a couple of times, which was really good value and very nice food at only 12 TL. This includes a glass of wine.
To get there turn right onto the main road towards Antalya, turn left at the first traffic light in Colakli, turn right at the next traffic light. Carry straight on, then turn left straight after Club Grand Aqua. Bear slightly left onto dirt road which leads you to the beach. On the beach walk 50m to the right.

Re: Where to go to the beach

Hi Els - is the beach at the apollo beach side but further round? Also have you heard of a restaurant in that area (I think near Sorgun) that is on the site of a fish farm and I believe has lots of wildlife to keep children and adults alike interested?

Re: Where to go to the beach

Hi IP - I mean the beach near Conny's hotel. If you take the road to Sorgun there is a restaurant somewhere on the left hand side of the road, it is on the river in a very nice setting, but I can't for the life of me remember its name as we have not been there for a few years. I'm not sure if that is the one you mean though.
