weather at halloween?

Hi everyone,

we are thinking of going back out to Spring at halloween and was wondering what the weather was like at that time.
we had rain last september and it was cold at night but we were told that that was not the norm.
also we have just came back and we hunted migros and sally's bazzar for duvets but no luck yet,,,, perhaps when weather gets colder.
can anyone help me as i don't fancy lugging them out from uk..

thankyou
maddie

Re: weather at halloween?

Hi Maddie,
Halloween is the end of October I believe (sorry we don't really have it here in Holland)? You would definitely need duvets at that time of year. You may still have very nice warm weather during the day time but the evenings and nights can be really cold, so take plenty of warm clothes as well.
There are quite a few shops in Manavgat which sell duvets all year round. Migros tends to just sell seasonal stuff so they would not have them yet. Look for the soft furnishings shops (curtains, bedding etc.) on the main roads leading into Manavgat. There are a couple of particularly nice shops in the Atatürk Bulvari (turn right at the artificial waterfall in town) and opposite the Tansas (or is it Gempa) supermarket. Anyway, it is in the road running parallel to the left of the main road through Manavgat. You will probably find they are cheaper than at home as well.

Hi Maddie,

Hope you had a good time for the rest of your holiday.

We took duvets this summer because it is so much cheaper to get them from Tesco's and then take an extra case. I would think you only need the thin duvets, so you should be OK with one case (It will be a much cheaper way than purchasing locally).

Hope to see you again next year. We are going on he kids half term at the end of May 2010.

Re: weather at halloween?

Before we moved here full time I was in Side at the end of October and found that I wasn't cold, only needed a sheet and a cotton cover on the bed and a wrap a couple of evenings.

As previously said you will find duvets in Manavgat, there is a nice shop on the street where TEB bank is, its on the opposite side of the road.

I did bring a duvet from the UK, packed in a vacum sucky bag.

The only winter stuff that Sali Palzari had in last week were some rather vile winter clothes.

Re: weather at halloween?

I think you'll only need thin duvets. We looked everywhere for some when we were there in April, but they were so expensive. Some were around £100! The best place we found was KIPA (TESCO) and MAKRO in Alanya (also in Antalya). I think it's probably better to try to bring one from England, as long as your luggage allowance will take it.

I bought a thick double duvet for about £15 in May and needed it at nights (the week before it got hot) Not sure which shop it was but one of the ones going down towards the seafront on the right opposite Tansas

Re: weather at halloween?

Madeline - whichever estate agent or developer sold you your Spring place will take you shopping in Manavgat for FREE to get your duvets, so ask them - it's a service all estate agencies in the area offer; not just when you buy your apt or villa but the whole time you visit it for years to come. They are NOT expensive in Manavgat and they will deliver to your place for FREE.

Word of warning though - the only ones my guy could find with me were GREEN!!! So the white covers show green through them a bit. Ah .....

Re: weather at halloween?

hi janice, when you say makro, is this the same type of makro as in the uk, and also if it is, do you need a membership card to get in.

Re: weather at halloween?

Hi - yes it is Makro as in the UK but it is called Metro. You can bring your UK card but when we have been there they have issued a day pass. Nice restaurant and good range of items on sale which are competitive. You can browse the website to see their flyers for up and coming sales items METRO and directions. Page 19 of the third metro post brochure has duvets on offer.

Re: weather at halloween?

Thanks everyone i think i will bring them out from uk , vacum packed and pay for the xtra case.
The flights are very expensive from uk at halloween time probably because the schools are off.
I have tried all the main airlines thos cook, thomson, ba, turkish airlines, kthy, pegasus so if anyone can add to that list i would be grateful
