Re: Alanya Anyone?
Hi Guys,
I bought an apartment earlier this year and will be returning soon to furnish it. I know that Alanya is full of shops but are there any reccomendations for reasonably priced functional furniture shops? After all I will only be out there for 4 weeks a year so dont want anything too extravagant.

Re: Looking for Furniture in Alanya
hi gerald
hope im not too late and youve already bought. the cheapest place for furniture is in konaklı its called Yilmaz mobilya its in the centre. They do special offers all the time and have a variety of stuff. Some cheap and yucky ..but some ok. they'll throw in all sorts of extras too. There are lots of small shops in where you can get custom made furniture..great for wardrobes etc.and you can bargain with them for a good deal..something you cant do with places like istikbal and bellona etc.
you can also get some fairly good second hand pieces if you know where to go. let me know if i can help you when you arrive.

hi Lau..i think you are in Payallar next to konaklı. Yilmaz mobilya is in the centre of konaklı..everybody knows where it is. They sell everything. lot of people come up from Alanya...its well known.on the main road from payallar take the left turn at the lights in konaklı and just go up that road to the top..and the shop is there.

Re: Looking for Furniture in Alanya
Yilmaz mobilya, but not with a Konakli address, comes up on a yahoo search. Is it a chain or just a common name?
Out of interest what do people think is best bought in Turkey and what is best bought in UK, for example is it worth getting duvets if so take them out or buy there

Re: Looking for Furniture in Alanya
Duvets, bedsheets and blankets are cheaper and better quality here, Tesco or Asda do pretty good deals. We took all ours from here.
Another thing to take is cutlery, better quality here and good value.

Re: Looking for Furniture in Alanya
duvets in the uk have been better..but lately ive seen some much improved ones in yataş ..and other shops that sell bedding....theyre catching up. right about the cutlery
though..better in the uk.
bras from the uk are better too and underwear in general ....unless youre a size 6..
elastoplasts too are useless here..

Re: Looking for Furniture in Alanya
Brought my duvets out from UK about 6yrs ago still going strong... there are a number of laundrys that wash them well. A plus is that you can just put them threw at airport .. do not pack, buy vacuum sealed ones. Cutlery on the other hand can be heavy and add to your weight limit. I have found some nice and reasonably quality cutlery here in some of the smalleer shops. I still prefer my cooking utnesils from uk. Towels can be bought here at very good value and quality... the factories around Bursa produce for M&S and other Brit stores. You can get great seconds on the bazaar.. a tip wash all new towels in cold wash first to help stop the fluffing... Good hunting!
