water dispenser......?

Having just read another thread re., the most economical way to run a water boiler, can anyone answer my question, please?
Is the water dispenser more cost effective than boiling the kettle, for a mug of water? I am a coffee addict!! Is it beter to leave it plugged in all the time or to turn it off overnight?

Re: water dispenser......?

Doesn't a water dispenser only heat the water AS it dispenses it? If that's the case, maybe it could be better to turn off overnight.

The cheapest way of heating up one or two cups of water is a microwave

But extreme care should be taken, as microwaved fluids can erupt when taken from the microwave and a spoon then put into it (or possibly coffee or tea bag, don't know, as I haven't tried).
