Sweat Stain Removal

The family have now left and I have washed the mattress covers and am airing the mattresses. I have noticed that there are sweat stains on the mattresses (I know they are not any other kind of stain). Does anyone know how to remove these stains? I thought it best to do it now as the mattresses will dry with the heat, rather than bring stuff from the UK and do it in late October. Thanks

Re: Sweat Stain Removal

Lesley I would try and get them out with washing up liquid and hot water. Put the washing up liquid neat on to the stain and then scrub it with a stiff brush soaked in hot water. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Re: Sweat Stain Removal

Nervous now as I have mattress covers on the beds and wonder if sweat stains would come through?

We have thick mattress covers from the UK on all of the beds and the stains have come through. Tried Vanish upholstery cleaner on one today but as its now night time I'll check to see how clean the mattress is in the morning.

I also use thick mattress covers bought over from the UK and these wash well and keep the mattresses clean. I found a tin of Vanish upholstery cleaner at the back of the cupboard and used it on one of the beds and a lot of the stain has come out so will do the other beds now. I feel it looks cleaner, not that anyone else ever sees the mattress but I'm just funny about marks on things, especially mattresses and pillows. I always take my special neck pillow when going away too as (a) I need it and (b) don't like sleeping on pillows other people have dribbled on - my bit of ocd I suppose. Thanks for all the tips. Will have to replace this tin of Vanish too
