Sand & Cement

Hi,

I am looking for around 25kg of smooth building sand and probably 10kg of cement to make motar. Not necessary in the above Qty, but do know what volumes to mix once I get the material.

I am not sure how this is sold in turkey and what it's called in turkish. I think I remember seeing large 25kg of cement, but I do not want that much.

I just want a little bit to do some minor work on my property in Turkey.

Any advice or guidance on this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance........

Re: Sand & Cement

Gauge it up at 7 to 1 , with a good squirt of washing up liquid.

As to the water , some sand sucks it up , some does not , it is suck it and see.

In a warm clime do not be tempted to knock up too much at any one time.

Good luck

Steve

Re: Sand & Cement

Any builders merchant will have 2 or 3 grades of sand (Kum) Go along Buy a 25kg bag of Cemento and they will also sell a couple of bags of Sand (Kum) plus they will deliver if you ask. I use the Builders merchant at the top of the old Fethiye road (Tranular) or there is a couple in Toparler. I would expect to pay about 10-15 TL for cement and 10-12 TL for a cwt of sand

Re: Sand & Cement

I have not seen smooth building sand here ( as found in UK). But there are different grades of the coarse sand available.

Merchants will sell small quantities of sand and cement. Just take a bucket or plastic bags and they will charge a nominal amount.

Re: Sand & Cement

The yapi market at the bottom of your road do it Aziz, they will deliver it up to yours on the back of the tractor.

Sand = Kum
Cement = Cemento.

They have different grades at different prices, including hardcore.
