Re: Expanding foam.

But make sure you know how to use it and also how to stop it expanding.
To help stop it from expanding, 'use a spray of water' which helps to seal the surface.

The first time I ever used it was to fill in around a light switch box and the channel in the plaster, but it still kept on growing for about 3 days, eventually I had to use a surform to file it back down to wall level.

But since then I have had some very successful encounters with the stuff.

TIP:
If you want to try getting a nice flat surface, place something like a sheet of kitchen 'cling-film' directly on top of the foam, then place a flat piece of timber on top of the cling-film, you will/may also have to add some weight to stop if from expanding any further.

And don't forget, it's better not to use too much, using too much takes longer to set and you can always add more later
