Painting over rust

Back in Turkey I recall painting over a rusty steel balustrade with only minor preparation.

I cant remember the name of the paint I used can any member please jog my memory?

Thanks

I have not seen hammerite on sale in Turkey but you can buy it in the TRNC, in many colours too.

Re: Painting over rust

Is it sold under 'Hammerite' or does it have a Turkish name? Yağlı boya' means oil paint (or gloss)

I bought 2 tins . They only had one tin Hammerite ,but the other tin Yagli they said was Turkish equivelant . I painted my metal gates with it [ used both tins ] And the Yagli seemed to be exactly the same as the Hammerite paint. I ran out of hammerite three quarters way through, and carried on with the Yagli tin and I cant tell the difference . [ these are big gates ] LOL. The Yagli stuff smelt exactly the same as the tin of hammerite I finished with .

says on tin FILI BOYA ,YAGLI BOYA
PARLAK .

It is made by Polisan, and widely available. It is called Polimetal Hammer, and comes in a variety of colors.

The Yagli tin I have here is all in Turkish . I had the impression it was hammerite {UK Paint ] in a Turkish Tin from a Turkish co .As I carried on painting from one tin to another straight away I could not tell the difference between the Hammerite paint and the Yagli paint.
