Bringing a laptop to Turkey for my hols

My generous husband has bought me a brand new laptop before I head off to the sun next week. It is to help me download my photos (he gave me a wonderful camera for Christmas) and to send emails etc to him when I am away. (I have read about hotspots - so will be found sitting outside Gima!)

Can you tell me whether I have to fill out any special forms etc on coming in to ensure that I have not brought it in to sell on etc.

(I have the sort of face that gets stopped and searched, so I need to make sure I have the right papers) as I think my husband would declare war on Turkey if the laptop got confiscated. In fact he would expect me to return home rather than step foot in the country!

Thanks for your help

Hi

You can carry your Laptop as hand luggage just make sure you bring your receipt will you for getting back into UK not that you would buy a Laptop here in Turkey as they are so much more expensive.

To date I have never been stopped carrying a laptop. No papers ect, just do'nt go waving it about . The biggest pain is going through security scanners in the UK. Gatwick insist that you separate it from the rest of your things and then pass through the machine. That is if you are carrying it as hand luggage also watch you do not get done for carrying more than one piece of hand luggage although I am not sure this.

Never been stopped with mine.
But yes it is counted as your hand luggage and last time they made me put my hand bag into my suitcase as that counted as 2 pieces. What
a scramble that was to take things out of handbag that I might need on flight !

C

If you saw the rest of me you would know why!!!!!!! Tee hee

Thanks for all your suggestions, on the safe side I will carry the receipt with me. I have been given a wheely bag that should be accepted by BA as handluggage to carry laptop and camera. I will get my tape measure out tonight to make sure.

My husband intends bringing out an astronomical telescope in July. God only knows where he'll put that!

Trying desperately not to think where he might put it Linda, ha, ha. Just don't upset him before you go............

I am in the same boat Jane. We are coming out on 7th May and I am bringing a new laptop with me so handy to see the responses to your query. See you outside the Gima or should that be the Carrefour (please excuse spelling....)
