Nothing more frustrating than getting a machine talking to you when you want to talk to a person.I'll try bombarding BT again about my lousy internet connection (28kb/s) though trying to get someone in India to understand that our phone lines are aluminum and the signal won't reach us even though he insists it will.

You beat me to it Martyn, everytime I see an 0870 number I get straight on to my PC and go to say no to 0870 it works.

Ive had this for a while now tried just last week to get through to Virgin Net and it don't work, they redirect you back to the original number or a freephone if you have a Virgin phone, I wouldn't be surprised if lots more will do the same once they realise what's going on.

I think you are right but i'm using it weekly and in the main it works. Its work for them to do this though as phone numbers are on websites, stationery and the like.

wish i'd had that list a few weeks ago..i was going round in circles trying to speak to someone personally at Lloyds...
in the end i sent a really vicious email....and got a result.

What Ifind really annoying lately is that if you ring an 0870, 0871 etc number they will queue you indefinitely but if you get an 0800 freephone number they won't let you queue, they will just tell you the queue is too long and ring off.

Wish you had the Thomas Cook no put me through to a 20p a minute line i wanted to pay the extra tax told me all about what they had to offer !!!!!!!!!!
then told me they couldnt answer my call all customer service busy after 20 minutes at 20p a minute i was fuming
