Re: Music on to ipod

open up itunes and open a window to view you music side by side then drag the songs across and drop them in your itunes library, then just sync your ipod

Re: Music on to ipod

you may also have to reload all your music again unless you have a back up, your i tunes account may think this is another computer and not allow a sync

Re: Music on to ipod

Sorry Jeanie not as straight forward as you think as what Martin said is correct unless you have backed up your I-tunes library you will not be able to get your music back in to I-tunes without some software. I-tunes will ask if you want to erase the music on the I-Pod and sync with the version you have just downloaded but obviously you will have no music in the new I-Tunes so this is not a good idea.

You have two options re-load all your music into I-Tunes from the original CDs or get a piece of software (I use I-Pod Access for windows) this will copy your I-Pod contents in to your I-Tunes, problem is it does raise the issue of copyright as you could copy someone else’s I-Pod in to your I-Tunes with this software also.

Not sure how much the software cost but its free to download but limits you to copying only 3 tracks then you need a software key.

You can download Yamipod ( as recommended in todays Sunday Times ). It is free and works.

Re: Music on to ipod

I don't have an i-pod but have a Toshiba Gigabeat but works in much the same way.Basically it's just a portable hard drive, when pluged into USB port open Computer from start menu and your i-pod should show on the screen.
No need to use a sync program just select the music you want from your computer, copy and paste to your i-pod.You can do single tracks or copy your entire collection in just a few simple clicks.

Re: Music on to ipod

Ipods are more restrictive than a normal mp3 player in terms of loading them

Never had to try it with ipod but had similar problem with the Toshiba a couple of years back, problem is that all the files are encrypted when they're transfered to the ipod all the music files on the Toshiba were converted to .sat files and could not be copied and played back on the PC.
I have found that there should be a way to transfer musi back from an ipod to the PC.It sounds pretty much straight forward Copy or Transfer Music and Songs from iPod to PC and Computer without iTunes My Digital Life

ps: I delete the Toshiba software from my Toshiba Gigabeat and installed Rockbox firmware,Available for almost all mp3's including ipod.
