Re: Running slow.

Is it your computer/s that is slow or your internet connection?
Assuming it's just your internet, what is it like using IE (Internet Explorer) ?

My first thought would be it's simply a lousy internet connection/speed with it being a bank holiday and all the kids at home on the net, but try turning all of your equipment off for a couple of minutes, then one-by-one slowly turn the bits back on again, "Modem" > (Router if installed) > "Computer".

As we only have one AV program installed, for peace of mind you could always run one of the "On-line" AV programs.
Such as:-

http://security.symantec.com/default...d=ie&venid=sym
From the initial screen just chose the right-hand option of "Continue to Symantec Security Check"
(Do not chose the left-hand option of "Download Now!"
There are 2 tests, one is for a AV test the other is for a internet security test, I would suggest running both.
You also need to run these tests from IE for best results.

As this is not confined just to one of your computers then it has to be a internet related problem.

As to why or how Chrome managed to uninstal itself on 2 computers is beyond me, unless as already said this is a internet related problem, but still very strange.

You have run the AV program and the security program which showed no problem so I would not suspect a virus to be the problem although initially that is what it looked like, although it could have been possible to pick-up something on both computers because you would be visiting the same sites with using both computers.

I am still inclined to think it is a problem with your Internet Supplier (ISP) plus as said earlier with the added problem of it being a bank holiday with all the extra usage the internet is getting, although it may possibly quieten down a bit for you now as it being that time of night (17:40)

Re: Running slow.

Hi

Suspect as others have said that it might be an Internet problem rather than the same problem affecting both computers.

One useful piece of software is CCleaner. You can download it for free by typing in CCleaner on your search bar or you could type in Piriform.com (creators of software)

Once you download and install it use it to analyze and clean your programs and your registry. You should run it once or twice a week depending upon how often you use your computers. You will probably be surprised the first time that you use it to see the amount of junk that it identifies and removes. Regular use should keep junk to a minimum and keep your speed up. You can also use the tools section to clean up your start menu and help speed up the Windows boot up.

Re: Running slow.

It is also worth switching off system restore / reboot / and turn it back on again as this can use a lot of memory with restore points going back for months.
