The reply.....you are not downloading copyright content...you are streaming it.

I thought the question would be.....is it legal to watch copyright material and not pay for the content?
Good post, but no real answer there though.

As we know providing it's free or paid for, then the software is not illegal to use.

But 'streaming' (which is effectively downloading) copyright material without permission has surely got to fall in the same bracket as downloading.
The only thing would be not storing it, which would be evidence in a prosecution.

It is the act of downloading copyright material without either permission or paying the copyright holder that is illegal.

So now it is in the public domain which sites offer downloads if you avail yourself of a decent VPN; if you're in a country where they are not banned then no VPN needed.
Any other recommendations than TOR? I have tested it but the usabilty is pretty strange. I want a VPN that is fast and easy to use/install. I have read some good reviews about IPVanish, does any of you guys use them?

No it's not legal.

The law on the whole issue of copyright is crazy. If I miss a programme on BBC i can watch it on catch up, or recordist on sky+. If I forget to sky+ it and miss it on catch up why is it illegal to download it?

Because "they" say so. It is beyond understanding by any but the most sophisticated of copyright lawyers who get paid a lot to twist the arms of the lawmakers to make it illegal for you to download anything "they" say you cannot.
Why does a Kindle book on Amazon usually cost as much and sometimes cost more than a paper one?
Why does a film which is 40 or 50 years old cost almost as much as one released last year on DVD or Amazon?
Examples:
Paint Your Wagon released in 1969 in HD costs $15.00, SD for $10.00.
The English Teacher, released 2013 costs $14.00 HD and $13:00 SD.

If a film newly released was priced at, for example, $25.00 for a virus-free and HD download with all special features that would be a bargain. I might buy it.

If a similar quality film was 5 years old and priced at $10.00 or 15 years old for $5.00 I might buy them. However, when they go over a certain age, perhaps say 25 years old, price them all at $0.99 for the same quality download. One digital copy, downloaded over the years could add millions to the coffers of Amazon and the production houses of the films. Instead the greedy bastards keep prices to extortionist levels and folks start using Pirate Bay.

Re: 25 sites blocked in the UK

So true ME.

They used the excuse that prices were high for games because of piracy, then when they brought out cartridges for the games machines did they make them cheaper? No way, and in some cases a lot more expensive.

Re: 25 sites blocked in the UK

Just a update, but the number of blocked sites just by 'Virgin Media' now stands at 94.

However, as I have said in earlier post/s TOR will bypass the restrictions of any site that is still up and running.

There are a few other sites with the name Cartier in them that have also been blocked, but I have left those out.
