25 sites blocked in the UK

Music industry group BPI obtained a High Court order earlier this month, which stipulated that UK ISPs must block their customers' access to the 25 sites, with the ban coming into force from today.

As of today, the 25 sites blocked in the UK are:

The Pirate Bay
Kat
H33t
Fenopy
1337x
BitSnoop
ExtraTorrent
Monova
TorrentCrazy
TorrentDownloads
torrentHound
Torrentreactor
Torrentz
Abmp3
BeeMP3
Bomb-Mp3
eMp3World
FileCrop
FilesTube
Mp3Juices
Mp3lemon
Mp3Raid
mp3skull
NewAlbumReleases
Rapidlibrary

21 new torrent sites added to UK banned list | ZDNet

So now it is in the public domain which sites offer downloads if you avail yourself of a decent VPN; if you're in a country where they are not banned then no VPN needed.

Could be a home goal then.

Re: 25 sites blocked in the UK

Not been downloading for a while now, but I thought h33t had already closed down some time ago.

Maybe try it in a minute, just out of curiosity "of course"

And still with using TOR which is a free VPN it should not be a problem.

Hi Norman

Have you heard of this.... USENET....they say it is better than Torrent.

What is Usenet and why is it better than Torrents?

I know that Pirate Bay is part of Mashup or NaviX in XBMC

The problem is defining better, torrents are predominantly free whereas Usenet is predominantly fee paying. The free Usenets apply limitations as far as I know. It would be interesting to read experiences that made Usenet a better option as I have had no direct experience.

I tried h33t with TOR but it won't open.

Just a thought for those who don't know, demonoid is back and running 'again' (just checked)

Same here, tried all of these, with and without my UK VPN, and they all worked just fine. If for some reason you cannot connect to your favorite TPB site try the TPB proxy list

One of the issues with using "pirate" torrent sites is directed toward those who upload "pirate" films, music, books, software, etc. Some of them are getting caught according to some of the comments on TPB and some have had their computers confiscated and they were subsequently hauled into court and fined. This is in the "free and open" USA from whence I previously came. The MPAA and other groups representing the entertainment industry and zealously guarding their copyrighted material by making examples of some pimply-faced teenager who rips and uploads films. Be aware...

The article also states in part:
"Most Usenet providers do not log what content you are accessing."

Meaning, if you decide to subscribe to one, make sure they do not log user activity. Also remember that you pay for an account so your name, email, and payment method are somewhere in their database which is accessible to a court order.

"It is becoming more clear to everybody that most people use Usenet to download copyrighted material. In the recent times, like torrent indexes, Usenet indexes are also being targeted with lawsuits."

Keep your VPN oiled up and use it regularly.

Tor and a VPN are different although they can be used together.

Tor vs. VPN is an excellent article comparing the two and their pros and cons.

"Tor is an anonymity network that provides free software designed to allow you to access the internet anonymously. Unlike VPN, where the VPN provider knows your real IP address, and can see your internet traffic at the exit point (the VPN server), with Tor your signal is routed through a number of nodes, each of which is only aware of the IP addresses ‘in front’ of the node and ‘behind’ it, so that at no point can anyone know the whole path between your computer and the website you are trying to connect with."

The article ends with:
Using VPN with Tor
"We have only come across one VPN provider who supports this, AirVPN. Although slow, this method provides an additional layer of privacy, as the VPN server will only see the VPN exit node instead of your real IP address. In addition to this, the fact that you are using Tor is hidden by the VPN, so websites which discriminate against known Tor exit nodes can be accessed as normal."

Re: 25 sites blocked in the UK

Have been sticking with XBMC...now known as KODI.....an interesting question posed to one of the MODS.....is it legal to use XBMC?

The reply.....you are not downloading copyright content...you are streaming it.

I thought the question would be.....is it legal to watch copyright material and not pay for the content?
