Exclamation Superfish on Lenovo computers

Just had an alert pop up from AVG about software pre-installed on Lenovo computers.

"Superfish is a piece of software that Lenovo has admitted to pre-installing on many of its laptops to "enhance the shopping experience" of its users. However, the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team calls Superfish a "man-in-the-middle attack" because of how it "intercepts users' web traffic to provide targeted advertisements."

Re: Superfish on Lenovo computers

I hate advertisers using devious means to track browsing history
Google is one of the worst .f you don't have software to stop it, you are being targeted right now on here by google adsence and google analytics
Facebook has it's own low lifes tracking you too , as does youtube

Pathetic really

Re: Superfish on Lenovo computers

Anyone with AVG free will see this pop up regardless of having superfish or a lenovo lappie.

Just a bit of marketing by AVG.

Steve.

Cool Re: Superfish on Lenovo computers

Lenovo: We SWEAR we're done with bloatware, adware and scumware
By Windows 10 launch our systems will be PURE, honest
"we will significantly reduce preloaded applications. Our goal is clear: To become the leader in providing cleaner, safer PCs."

One positive from Superfish: Less bloatware on Lenovo’s new PCs

"Lenovo’s credibility took a big hit this month, courtesy of the Superfish scandal: Pre-installed adware on Lenovo computers resulted in a risk to user privacy and security. The company has since apologized but is now going an extra step, bringing some solace from the incident. Lenovo says it will vastly reduce the amount of bloatware on its computers, going forward."

Quote:
"We are starting immediately, and by the time we launch our Windows 10 products, our standard image will only include the operating system and related software, software required to make hardware work well (for example, when we include unique hardware in our devices, like a 3D camera), security software and Lenovo applications. This should eliminate what our industry calls “adware” and “bloatware.” For some countries, certain applications customarily expected by users will also be included."
