Im getting 2 or 3 Skype contact requests every day from the strangest places obviously I block them and report as spam
But has my Skype address been hacked somehow? I really wouldnt want to change my Skype address.

Has anybody any idea what is going on?

Thanks

Re: Skype Security

At one time you could alter a setting so that no-one could either see you or make a request.

However, yesterday several hours apart I installed/reinstalled Skype on 2 of my other computers and strangely enough had a request from from the same 2 people to be added to my friends list, so there is obviously something tracking our on-line activities.

Funny you should say that Warren - I've had 3 requests from Kim Bassinger in the last week - one from Nigeria, one from Ghana and one from Somalia.

That lady sure does travel around

Well, I get only military men - colonels and generals, of course.

Cool Re: Skype Security

Skype has always been a "red flag" for security even before Microsoft bought it.

This is a year old alert, but is it the same problem as yours?
Microsoft to spoofed Skype users: Change your account passwords NOW ? The Register

"An unknown number of frustrated Skype customers have been pestered by spoof messages on the Microsoft service for weeks, but the company is yet to close what appears to be a gaping hole in its software.

Instead, Redmond has advised Skype users to change their account passwords.

But complaints are building up about the lack of communication coming out of the Microsoft camp regarding what seems to be a Skype security flaw.

The problem first appeared late last month. One Skype user, posting in a thread that now runs to 22 pages long, said:

I received a message earlier today from a friend on my contact list whom I don't normally have Skype conversations with. The link resolves to a Russian/.ru site so I immediately knew I had been duped and closed the window before the page loaded.

You might consider trying Zoom a free download and getting rid of Skype. I found that Zoom works better for me on our "village" bandwidth than does Skype.

Just out of curiosity (or to clear-up any query), would you still be able to have conversations with Skype people, or is it simply 'Zoom to Zoom'
